Our History and Foundations
MADE4UINML2 was established in 2006 through the commitment of local Christians and churches who wanted to make a practical difference in the lives of people living in the ML2 area.
Our Christian foundations remain an important part of our identity. Our Board continues to recognise and honour the values on which the organisation was founded, ensuring that compassion, dignity, inclusion and practical care for others are reflected in the work we deliver today.
An important part of our charitable purpose is bringing people together across different communities and traditions. We work alongside Roman Catholic, Church of Scotland, evangelical and Pentecostal churches, as well as local volunteers and community partners, to tackle poverty, improve mental health and strengthen community relationships.
This commitment to working across denominations is also part of how we challenge sectarianism in practice. By encouraging people from different backgrounds to work together around shared community needs, we help build understanding, trust and stronger connections.
Today, MADE4UINML2 provides practical support through community food initiatives, children and families activities, youth work, wellbeing programmes and volunteering opportunities. While our organisation has Christian foundations, our services are open to everyone, regardless of faith, beliefs or background.
Our founding values continue to shape not only why we do this work, but how we do it: working alongside people, recognising their strengths and helping communities support one another.
